The Cambridge Platform
Adam Tierney-Eliot, in a discussion on Congregationalism, makes reference to The Cambridge Platform, a 1648 document which is a common heritage for the Unitarian Universalist Association, the United Church of Christ, and two other associations of congregations.Very interesting. I had never heard of it.

Paul,
Two additional resources on congregational polity can be found on the UUA web site:
Interdependence: Renewing Congregational Polity (Commission on Appraisal Report from 1997)
http://www.uua.org/polity/contents.htm
Congregational Polity: A Historical Survey of Unitarian and Universalist Practice by Conrad Wright
http://www.uua.org/cde/congpolity.pdf
Both of these resources talk about the Cambridge Platform within the context of Unitarian Universalist history. And both are free downloads from the UUA web site.
Happy New Year,
Steve
