What do UUs worship?

UUMomma has a post that includes the question of "what do UUs worship?"

Perhaps the answer can come from the definition of “worship”. Here’s one set I found via Google …
  • idolize: love unquestioningly and uncritically or to excess; venerate as an idol; “Many teenagers idolized the Beatles”
  • show devotion to (a deity); “Many Hindus worship Shiva”
  • the activity of worshipping
  • attend religious services; “They worship in the traditional manner”
  • a feeling of profound love and admiration
I’d personally throw out the “idolize” one, and the “a deity” part of the second one. Perhaps you can make something out of the “profound love and admiration”.

But what would be the object of this love and admiration?

Perhaps love and admiration for the community in which we're participating, or for the interdependent web of existence.

"Worship" to me has overtones of propitiation and fear. But I'd like to think that the worship which many people identify as central to their religious lives is usually something different than this. Perhaps it isn't - there is, after all, the idea of being "God-fearing..."

Personally, I've felt awe and wonder. In terms of religious experience, I personally prefer the connotations of these words to the word worship.
