Unitarian Universalist Ad Contest
There's a site about a UU Ad Contest that sayssome incredibly wonderful person has donated 2.6 million dollars so that we can run one 30-second ad promoting Unitarian Universalism, during the Superbowl. So, get out your video camera, crank up your video-editing software, and let's see what you've got.No indication of who's running or judging the contest, or the donor of the money.

Paul ... check out the text at the top of this blog:
"Okay, here's the fantasy: some incredibly wonderful person has donated 2.6 million dollars ... "
I think it's a great idea that will spark some wonderful ads for both online (YouTube) and for broadcast.
But it doesn't sound we'll need to use our Tivo's to record this ad during next year's SuperBowl.
(choking on her pizza)
Ack! No ... here's the *fantasy* -- key word, fantasy. No actual donor. This is just for fun, in the hopes of someone creating a viral video promoting UUism.
Of course, if a donor sees a great video and steps forward with the money, I will be happy to coordinate the ad ... :)
read the whole thing before you spread rumors inadvertantly:
Okay, here's the fantasy*: some incredibly wonderful (fictional) person has donated 2.6 million dollars so that we can run one 30-second ad promoting Unitarian Universalism, during the Superbowl. So, get out your video camera, crank up your video-editing software, and let's see what you've got. See Full Rules, below. DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 2, 2007 *Clarification: FANTASY. There is no actual donor. Although if someone with an extra 2.6 million wants to step forward ...
I don't believe that anyone actually donated the money, they mean as in "What would you create if this happened." kind of thing.
I think this isn't a real contest. They say "Clarification: FANTASY. There is no actual donor. Although if someone with an extra 2.6 million wants to step forward ..."
Paul, It's a hypothetical. The full text of the site header reads:
"Okay, here's the fantasy*: some incredibly wonderful (fictional) person has donated 2.6 million dollars so that we can run one 30-second ad promoting Unitarian Universalism, during the Superbowl. So, get out your video camera, crank up your video-editing software, and let's see what you've got. See Full Rules, below. DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 2, 2007 *Clarification: FANTASY. There is no actual donor. Although if someone with an extra 2.6 million wants to step forward ..."
The site also says, "Here's the fantasy..." No one has donated $2.6 million; that's just the "what if" part. But if they had, what kinds of messages would people want to put on TV?
